The Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU) held the Opening Plenary of its Annual Conference, "25 Years of Championing Hispanic Higher Education Success” on Oct. 29 at the Grand Hyatt San Antonio.
The Opening Plenary began with State of HACU Address and was followed by the opening of the Exhibit Hall.
During the two-day conference an estimated 1,500 participants attended a variety of workshops and networking opportunities.
HACU hosted a College and Career Fair open to the public on Sunday, Oct. 30, where middle and high school students and parents were among those who visited the Conference Exhibit Hall. More than 100 exhibitors including federal agencies, major corporations, and colleges and universities from across the nation were part of the exhibit.
A discussion on the future of higher education was the topic addressed when HACU presented a Town Hall surrounding "Re-Engineering Higher Education."
HACU also presented several Awards of Excellence. During HACU's Silver Anniversary Gala Dr. Antonio Rigual, HACU founder and first executive director, was inducted as the inaugural member of the HACU Hall of Champions. The founding board of directors of HACU were also recognized during the gala which celebrated HACU's 25 years of Championing Hispanic Success in Higher Education.
