Secretary Salazar speaks at opening of the Capitol Forum on Hispanic Higher Education

The U.S Secretary of the Interior, Ken Salazar, addressed more than 190 attendees of HACU’s 17th Annual National Capitol Forum on May 26th during the opening luncheon.

“You have essentially the future of America in your hands,” said Secretary Salazar. "Because, when you think about 54 million Latinos now in the United States of America, - -the very strength of this Nation, in terms of its national security, its economic security, its energy security, its historical heritage security is about what kind of job the United States of America does in educating all its young people, and in that, making sure that know no one is left behind - - no exceptions.”

Secretary Salazar reiterated the importance of the passage of the DREAM Act and the Department’s work with the Latino community, including the American Latino Heritage initiative and efforts to attract and engage a more diverse workforce.
