HACU weighs in on the Fiscal Cliff and higher education funding

The national education magazine Diverse Issues in Higher Education featured HACU president and CEO Antonio R. Flores in two articles related to the sequestration process affecting the national budget, which put education funding at risk for the entire country.

One article was published before the Jan. 1 Congressional action that delayed cuts until March, while the second expanded on the mandatory reductions that will take effect unless a long-term budget solution is achieved.

The cuts would dramatically reduce funding for federal work/study, TRIO programs, Hispanic-serving institutions and other minority-serving colleges, essential in ensuring Hispanic higher education success.
