HACU's 27th Annual Conference officially begins with the Opening Plenary

The Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU) Opening Plenary officially kicked off the 27th Annual Conference, with HACU President and CEO Antonio R. Flores delivering the State of HACU address to a record crowd.

Dr. Flores also used the address to announce the formation of a HACU science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) Task Force, which will provide advice on how to best approach policy and practice issues in increasing Hispanic participation in STEM. It was also announced that Mark B. Rosenberg, Ph.D., president of Florida International University will serve as chair and Rita Cepeda, Ed.D., chancellor of San José/Evergreen Community College District and HACU Governing Board member will serve as co-chair of the task force.

The plenary was followed by the Exhibit Hall ribbon cutting ceremony and reception.
