HNIP 2014 summer early deadline extended

The early deadline for the 2014 summer session of the HACU National Internship Program (HNIP) has been extended to Nov. 15, 2013. The early deadline is set for applications to be reviewed by most companies seeking interns or by agencies requiring security clearance or additional screening of applicants. The regular deadline for other summer internship opportunities is March 3, 2014.

The summer internship program dates are May 30 - August 9, 2014 (or June 16 - August 22, 2014, for students at institutions on a quarter calendar). Internship locations are in Washington, D.C., and field locations within the U.S. All majors are invited to apply. Both federal and corporate internship opportunities are available in the summer session. Applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Minimum 3.0 GPA (on a 4.0 scale)
  • Enrollment in a degree-seeking program at an accredited institution. Students pursuing only a credential or certificate will be considered ineligible
  • Completion of freshman year of college before the internship begins
  • Authorization or eligibility to work in the United States by law

The deadline for spring 2014 internships is also Nov. 15, so please be sure to double check your application regarding the period you wish to participate in.

The HACU National Internship Program has placed more than 10,000 students in internships since its inception in 1992. The internships provide talented Hispanic and other minority students with opportunities to develop career and professional skills while receiving financial support to help motivate them towards graduation.
