HACU, USDA and IICA sign MOU to promote international cooperation

The Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU), the U.S. Department of Agriculture and the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA)  have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to expand on existing bilateral agreements to enhance and facilitate international programs in agriculture for Hispanic-Serving Institutions (HSIs) and Hispanic-Serving Agricultural Colleges and Universities (HSACUs).

The partnership includes collaborating on USDA internships as part of HACU’s National Internship Program, providing a track for U.S. students to gain professional international experience. The collaboration also includes development of an international track for faculty to gain international research experience through the USDA/HSI Kika de la Garza Fellowship.

Additionally, the agreement aims to increase awareness among HACU-member institutions, their faculty and students about future program opportunities such as the IICA Postgraduate Scholarship Program for master’s and doctoral agricultural studies.
