HACU scholarship and travel award deadlines for students rapidly approaching

Two Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU) programs have closing deadlines in May and two others in June.

The 10th Annual “Giving Flight to Your Success™/Dándole Alas a Tu Éxito™" ¡Lánzate! Travel Award Program, sponsored by Southwest Airlines and HACU has an extended deadline of May 22, 2014, 11:59 p.m. CDT. Through this national education initiative, Southwest Airlines will award roundtrip airline tickets to undergraduate and graduate students across the country who travel away from home to pursue a higher education and meet the eligibility criteria. The NASCAR/Wendell Scott Sr. Award of $2,200 to full-time undergraduate or graduate students attending four-year HACU-member institutions with a declared major in Engineering, Business, Public Relations, Mass Media, Sports Marketing, Marketing, Management, or Technology has a deadline of May 30, 2014. Students must possess a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0., and attend school in Florida, Georgia, or North Carolina. For more details or to apply, click here.

The HACU's National Internship Program is seeking undergraduate and graduate students with a minimum 3.0 GPA, enrolled in a degree-seeking program at an accredited institution and authorized or eligible to work in the United States by law. Interns work in the Washington, D.C. area and at field sites throughout the country. The program is open to all students who have completed their freshman year, regardless of ethnicity, gender, age, faith, etc. For more details or to apply by June 13, 2014, click here.

Student Track scholarships are available to eligible undergraduate students to attend HACU’s 28th Annual Conference, “Championing Hispanic Higher Education Success: Investing in America's Future," scheduled for Oct. 4-6, 2014, at the Sheraton Denver Downtown Hotel, Denver, Colo. Scholarships cover costs for conference registration; travel and lodging for out-of-state students, and one conference-related meal per day. Students must be: currently enrolled in an undergraduate degree program; a U.S. Citizen, permanent resident, or eligible to work in the U.S.; physically attending home institution in the Fall 2014; and willing to be sponsored by a corporate, federal, or nonprofit sponsor.
