"The Wal-Mart foundation granted $50,000 to the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU) in January 2002. The grant will be used to continue the Wal-Mart Achievers Scholarship to be awarded to eligible students enrolled at HACU-Member and Partner Institutions.

Students who apply for the Wal-Mart Achievers Scholarship must be full-time undergraduates enrolled in at least their sophomore year having completed a minimum of one year of full-time study. Students must have a declared major in: business administration, general management, retail management - or their equivalent majors/curricula. Students must also possess a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0, preferably employed while attending school, and have an interest in retail management. In addition to meeting these requirements, students must also demonstrate financial need through eligibility for financial aid form a federal or state-funded program.
