HACU leaders discuss Hispanic higher education on the eve of the 20th Annual Capitol Forum

The Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU) held a series of planning meetings on the eve of the 20th Annual Capitol Forum on Hispanic Higher Education taking place in Washington, D.C., March 23-24, 2015, at the Washington Marriott at Metro Center.

On March 22, HACU President and CEO Antonio R. Flores led a HACU Governing Board Retreat to discuss advocacy issues of importance to Hispanic-Serving Institutions and upcoming initiatives planned for the association. A HACU Governing Board meeting on March 23 will also take place prior to the Capitol Forum that begins at noon.

HACU Chief Advocacy Officer Luis Maldonado and the Associations government relations staff also met with members of the Government Relations committee chaired by Jorge Iván Vélez-Arocho. The Government Relations Committee is instrumental in promoting within the Association the development of public policy positions and provides general guidance and support in the Association's relations with state and federal governments.

HACU’s Capitol Forum takes place each spring to advocate for the higher education success of the nation’s youngest and largest ethnic population group. The annual HACU Capitol Forum serves as an opportunity to shape and promote an agenda for Congress and the country. State delegations to Capitol Hill will take place on the second day of the gathering.
