HACU hosts Latino STEM Summit at Northeastern Illinois University

The Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU), in partnership with Northeastern Illinois University (NEIU), hosted a free summit focused on preparing Latino students for corporate internships and jobs in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) fields. The HACU STEM Summit took place at the NEIU El Centro Campus on Friday, April 10, 2015, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Approximately 50 students majoring in the STEM fields (computer science, information technology, management information systems, chemistry, geosciences, life sciences, physics, astronomy, etc.) participated in the summit.

Workshop presenters included representatives from USDA, U.S. Department of Energy, Deloitte, Lockheed Martin, General Electric, Rush University, Northeastern Illinois University, and University of Illinois at Chicago College of Medicine. Students also received information about the application process for corporate internships under the HACU National Internship Program. To view the agenda, click here.

HACU STEM Summits offer participants the opportunity for students to meet with STEM professionals and corporate representatives. Students will have opportunities to learn more about career fields and meet with academics in STEM fields, as well as corporate recruiters.
