A total of 43 college students have been selected for corporate internship assignments this summer through partnerships established between corporations and the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU). The paid opportunities are designed to offer college students real world experience in corporate America and are a component of HACU’s National Internship Program that is also offers 153 students internships in the federal sector.
While most of the corporate interns will serve for a 10-week period this summer, at least two students have already been offered employment. Deloitte has hired Rommel Benavidez of the University of Texas, Pan-American, and Goldman Sachs has hired Jacqueline Vargas of California State University, San Bernardino.
All students serving are on paid assignments. Fifteen students will intern at Deloitte and 10 at GE, with the remainder at various locations throughout the nation with the following corporations: American Student Assistance, BBVA Compass, Goldman Sachs, Lockheed Martin and Sodexo. The Ford Motor Company Fund also offers five students the opportunity to gain experience at non-profit organizations, including HACU. These opportunities will allow non-profits to gain valuable assistance during the summer.
The corporate interns are enrolled at colleges and universities in California, Florida, Illinois, Massachusetts, New Mexico, New York, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Texas, Virginia, and Washington.
