HACU Signs MOU with the Department of Veterans Affairs

The Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU) and the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to establish a partnership fostering collaboration, to develop initiatives and engage in outreach to help increase employment and educational opportunities in the VA for students at Hispanic-Serving Institutions (HSls), other HACU member institutions and veterans.

The partnership will increase awareness of developmental programs and employment opportunities and address potential barriers to Hispanic representation within the VA, strengthening the Department's support for Executive Order 13555, "White House Initiative on Educational Excellence for Hispanics." Partnership efforts will encompass career fairs, on-campus career orientations, diversity outreach efforts, providing HSIs with information about VA scholarships, fellowships, stipends, internships, and grants, as well as other VA training and educational opportunities available to students and faculty.



  

The Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities, founded in 1986, represents more than 500 colleges and universities in the United States, Latin America, Spain, and school districts throughout the U.S. HACU is the only national association representing existing and emerging Hispanic-Serving Institutions (HSIs). The Association’s headquarters are in San Antonio, Texas, with regional offices in Washington, D.C. and Sacramento, California.
