Three HACU-member institutions host HACU's Youth Leadership Development Forum

Nearly 2,000 students participated in HACU's 2015 Youth Leadership Development Forum on Oct. 9, 2015. The preconference events were part of the Association's 29th Annual Conference and held in collaboration with three HACU-member institutions and three sponsors: Florida International University with the GM Foundation, St. Thomas University with ETS and Miami Dade College North Campus with NCAA Inclusion.

HACU representatives were on hand to welcome the students:

  • HACU President and CEO Antonio R. Flores, Ph.D., at Florida International University (FIU)
  • Tomas Morales, Ph.D., president of California State University San Bernardino and HACU Governing Board chair, at the St. Thomas University event
  • John Moder, Ph.D., HACU senior vice-president/chief operating officer, at Miami Dade Community College-North Campus 

Approximately 910 students attended the Miami Dade Community College-North Campus event, 500 at St. Thomas University and 500 at FIU, participating in STEM-focused activities and presentations that covered subjects such as physics, chemistry, robotics, biology and nutrition.
