HACU International Plenary to focus on environmental sustainability and climate change

The Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU) will present an International Plenary on "Higher Education and the Environment: Becoming Global Leaders for Sustainable Change," Monday, Oct. 10, 2016, 9:00 – 10:15 a.m., as part of its 30th Annual Conference taking place in San Antonio, Texas at the Grand Hyatt San Antonio.

The plenary will highlight the environmental work being done by universities that is changing the world for the better while engaging the international community, private organizations and federal agencies to effect that change.

The Plenary will be moderated by Sue Henderson, Ph.D., President, New Jersey City University. Keynote speakers will discuss environmental sustainability and how higher education can play a key leadership role in addressing climate change.

Speakers will include: Juan Gomez, Ph.D., Interim institute director and associate professor of research, Texas Sustainable Energy Research Institute, The University of Texas at San Antonio.

José Antonio “Tony” Pérez, Special Assistant to the Global Water Coordinator, Bureau for Economic Growth, Education, and Environment (E3), United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
