Nine students awarded Café Bustelo® El Café Del Futuro Scholarships totaling $45,000
The Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU) has selected nine students from HACU-member institutions to each receive a Café Bustelo® El Café del Futuro Scholarship of $5,000. Read news release here.
The Café Bustelo® El Café Del Futuro Scholarship recipients are from HACU-member institutions in Arizona, California, Florida, Illinois, and Washington.
The student recipients and their institutions are:
Ana Gabriela Kovats - San Diego State University, who has earned a master's in Latin American studies and is working towards a doctorate to become a university professor.
Araceli Agustin Gomez - California State University, Fresno, is an agricultural business major and participant of the HACU National Internship Program who credits her parents for inspiring her to reach her goals.
Carissa Ford - Florida International University, is working towards a bachelor's in social work from FIU to help people in need.
Joseph Madera - Arizona State University, plans to work towards an MBA from Arizona State University this fall and aspires to work in the nonprofit sector as a future Latino leader.
Juan Pinzon - San Jose State University, will be working towards a computer engineering degree this fall and hopes to develop innovative technology in the future.
Kevin Santana - Florida International University, is a first-generation college student who will pursue a law degree and aspires to be an immigration lawyer.
Maricela Ramirez - Heritage University, intends to serve her home community after earning a degree as a medical professional.
Veronica Rico - California State University, Northridge, has previous volunteer work which has motivated her to working towards a degree in civil engineering.
Yesenia Perez - DePaul University, is working towards a master's in student college development counseling to be able to work in student affairs at a college in the future.
The Café Bustelo® El Café del Futuro Scholarship Essay Contest is part of the 2016-17 HACU Scholarship Program.
