Deloitte presents FIU student with a $10,000 Student Leadership Award

The Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU) and its partners presented a number of awards to students at the Association’s 30th Annual Conference, including the Jorge A. Caballero Student Leadership Award, by HACU corporate partner, Deloitte.

Leonardo De Armas, an accounting major at Florida International University (FIU), received the 2016 Student Leadership Award, named after Jorge A. Caballero, partner at Deloitte Tax, LLP.

De Armas was selected for the $10,000 award by demonstrating leadership qualities through academics and community involvement.

 

As part of the award presentation, Alicia Velasquez, the 2015 recipient of the Leadership Award, spoke of the difference the Leadership Award and a Deloitte internship made in her life. 



  

The Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities, founded in 1986, represents more than 500 colleges and universities in the United States, Latin America, Spain, and school districts throughout the U.S. HACU is the only national association representing existing and emerging Hispanic-Serving Institutions (HSIs). The Association’s headquarters are in San Antonio, Texas, with regional offices in Washington, D.C. and Sacramento, California.
