The Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU) hosted an Act on the DREAM Summit on April 26, 2017, following the 22nd Annual National Capitol Forum in Washington, D.C. The Summit brought together leaders from national organizations and immigration stakeholders to discuss advocacy strategies and resources for institutions and school districts to better serve DREAMers.
The day-long Summit included Senator Dick Durbin as the morning keynote speaker, followed by Executive Director and Co-Founder, of United We Dream, Cristina Jimenez. The luncheon keynote speaker was Representative Luis V. Gutierrez.
The invitation-only event included an update on the BRIDGE Act, a panel discussion of the impact of DACA in higher education, and breakout sessions. A post-summit report summary will be released at a later date.
