HACU hosts its first Trustees’ Forum at the 31st Annual Conference, San Diego

The Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU) will host its inaugural Trustees’ Forum on October 31, 2017, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., at the Hilton San Diego Bayfront, San Diego, Calif. The half day event will take place following the Association’s 31st Annual Conference, "Championing Hispanic Higher Education Success: Driving America's Prosperity."

The Trustees’ Forum will focus on collaboration strategies for advocacy efforts at the state and federal level, specifically for trustees who engage in advocacy on behalf of the Hispanic-Serving Institutions they serve.

Two key panel topics will include:

“Current Issues and Opportunities Facing Trustees and Hispanic Higher Education,” moderated by Eloy Oakley, chancellor of California Community Colleges and Board of Regents member of the University of California System. Panelists will include: J. Noah Brown, president and CEO of the Association of Community College Trustees; Richard Legon, president and CEO of the Association of Governing Boards; and Monica Lozano, former chair, Board of Regents of the University of California System and President and CEO, College Futures Foundation.

“HACU and the Role of Trustees,” moderated by Silas Abrego, trustee of the California State University System. Panelists will include: Erlinda J. Martinez, Ed.D., Member, Board of Trustees, National University System; Peter J. Taylor, Member, Board of Trustees, California State University System; and Roberto Zárate, Member, Board of Trustees, Alamo Colleges and Immediate Past Chair, Board of Directors,
Association of Community College Trustees (ACCT).
