Timer Warner Inc. partners with HACU
for new Hispanic scholarship program

SAN ANTONIO, Texas – Global media/entertainment giant Time Warner Inc. awarded the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU) $300,000 over three years to provide scholarships to students attending HACU member campuses.

The first 34 recipients -- undergraduate students in Arizona, California, Florida, New Jersey, New Mexico, Pennsylvania, Texas and Puerto Rico -- were each awarded a $2,000 scholarship under the new HACU/Time Warner Scholarship Program.

“Time Warner is committed to helping the next generation of youth reach its full potential. We are delighted that our partnership with HACU has resulted in this unique scholarship program which will help make college more accessible to deserving students in the Hispanic community,” said Lisa Quiroz, Vice President, Time Warner's Office of Corporate Responsibility.

“HACU applauds Time Warner for this generous investment in the future of our Hispanic students, who represent our country’s largest ethnic population and fastest-growing segment of the U.S. labor force,” said HACU President and CEO Antonio R. Flores.

“The Hispanic higher education community is deeply grateful for this important new scholarship program that will benefit hundreds of our students over the next three years,” Flores said. “HACU is honored to become a partner with a celebrated corporation that not only informs and entertains the world, but also reaches back with its contributions to the future of our communities through Time Warner’s invaluable support for education and workforce diversity.”

The $2,000 renewable HACU/Time Warner Scholarship Program awards are open to eligible students attending one of HACU’s more than 395 member colleges and universities, which collectively serve more than two-thirds of all Hispanic higher education students in the United States.
