FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE July 10, 2006 The Hispanic Association Of Colleges And Universities (HACU) Teams With Lockheed Martin To Provide Leadership And Communication Skills Workshops For HACU Interns SAN ANTONIO, TX — On Friday, July 14, 2006, Lockheed Martin will host 100 interns from the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU) National Internship Program at its Center for Leadership Excellence (CLE) in Bethesda. These students will participate in the Lockheed Martin STARS InstituteTM, a unique series of workshops aimed at giving college students the tools they need to succeed in school and their careers. Several informative and interactive workshops will be presented by Lockheed Martin representatives on topics ranging from leadership and negotiation to interpersonal communication. The workshops are designed to give students an opportunity to learn skills not typically taught in university classrooms. "We are excited to be able to offer the Lockheed Martin STARS InstituteTM to our students," said Dr. Antonio Flores, President and CEO of HACU. "These workshops will give the students practical skills while allowing them a unique opportunity to interact with representatives from the nation’s premier systems integrator and engineering company." The Lockheed Martin STARS InstituteTM workshops have been designed based on input gathered from research with faculty and advisors at colleges and universities throughout the nation. “This is our second year offering the Lockheed Martin STARS InstituteTM to HACU National Internship students from a wide range of companies, not just Lockheed Martin,” said Leslie Chappell, Director of University Relations for Lockheed Martin. Flores added, “Students were impressed with the breadth of topics offered when the workshops were first conducted two years ago and many felt it was one of the highlights of their summer internship experience. With Lockheed Martin’s support, we are pleased to be able to offer it once again to our students.” For more information, contact HNIP Director Alexandria Rosales at (202) 467-0893, or visit http://www.hnip.net/.
