HACU Chief Advocacy Officer speaks at HSI Forum at Hartnell College

Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities’ (HACU) Chief Advocacy Officer Luis Maldonado was a featured speaker at a Hispanic-Serving Institutions (HSI) Forum on May 18, 2018. The HSI Forum was the first hosted at Hartnell College.

According to Hartnell College, the purpose of the Forum was to provide dialogue and collaboration between the College, area school districts, regional colleges and universities, and other organizations and agencies that support access and success of Hispanic in higher education.

The number of HSIs continues to grow rapidly, from 189 in 1994, to 229 in 2000, to 245 in 2005, to 311 in 2010, and 492 in 2016. Of the 492 HSIs in 2016, 215 (46%) were public two-year institutions, 120 public four-year institutions, 135 private four-year institutions, and 22 private two year institution.
