HACU meets with Chinese Embassy

As worldwide attention is focused on the Beijing Olympics, HACU President Dr. Antonio Flores (left) met August 13, 2008, in Washington, D.C., with Dr. You Shaozhong, Minister Counselor of the Education Office of the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in the USA, to discuss creating partnerships to encourage student and faculty exchanges between Hispanic-Serving Institutions (HSIs) and colleges and universities in China.  Follow up is being planned between the Embassy and HACU's International Affairs office.

Dr. Flores took advantage of the trip to visit with the HACU-Department of Defense Leadership Group which was meeting the same day to further the collaboration called for by the Memorandum of Understanding between those two organizations.  To round out his visit, Dr. Flores met with Sr. Jacob Gonzalez Prado, of the Office of Latino Affairs of the Mexican Embassy in Washington, before returning to San Antonio.
