2008 Hispanic Policy Agenda released

Last week, the National Hispanic Leadership Agenda (NHLA) released its 2008 Hispanic Policy Agenda. HACU is among the 26 national and regional Hispanic organizations that are part of NHLA and contributed to the agenda. HACU participated on the subcommittees on education and government accountability.

The 2008 Policy Agenda addresses issues facing Hispanics in the following areas:

        • Education
        • Civil rights
        • Immigration
        • Economic empowerment
        • Health
        • Government accountability

This publication includes input from Hispanic leaders and advocates from across the nation. Hispanic-Serving Institutions (HSIs) are identified as the backbone of Hispanic higher education in the report, which calls for HSIs to be made a national priority.
