Student and university commitments to action made at Clinton Global Initiative University Meeting

The University of Texas at Austin recently hosted the Second Clinton Global Initiative University (CGI U) Meeting. HACU’s Director of Capacity Building and Leadership, Arturo Cuéllar, Jr. represented HACU at the meeting. HACU’s commitment is for college students to tutor/mentor in PK-12 Schools. The goal is to strengthen collaboration between the two systems through tutoring and mentoring to increase Hispanic higher education success. HACU’s commitment is being coordinated by Maria Elena Vivas-House, mevivas-house@hacu.net.

More than 1,000 students representing 318 schools, 60 countries, and all 50 states attended the CGI U Meeting, along with nearly 100 university administrators and almost 70 leaders of National Youth Organizations. More than 1,600 CGI U Commitments to date have been made through CGI U to impact pressing global issues. Visit the CGI Web site >>
