HACU partners with CCP on nationwide broadcast of Hispanic Heritage month tributes and Hispanic College Quiz

During Hispanic Heritage Month, Sept. 15-Oct. 15, HACU has once again partnered with Central City Productions on a television broadcast airing nationwide, and featuring students from HACU-member institutions.

The “Know Your Heritage -- 2008 Hispanic College Quiz Show” series that features eight HACU-member institutions will be rebroadcast nationwide. The series, produced by Central City Productions, originally aired last year. It pitted teams of four students against each other in a test of their knowledge of Latino history for a chance to win scholarships.

During the rebroadcast of the quiz show, Hispanic Heritage Month messages featuring students who participated in the HACU National Internship Program this summer will also be aired. The videotaped messages pay tribute to Hispanic leaders and culture.

The students include:

·         Gabriela Castillon- University of Arizona

·         Jacobo Favela- University of Arizona

·         Miguel Lugo- Florida International University

·         Edward Lyles- Florida International University

·         Victoria Macias- Colorado State University

·         Ligia Montoya- Barry University

·         Nathan Nazareno- University of Maryland - Baltimore County

·         Jairo Pava- Florida International University

·         Juan Saenz- Penn State University

·         Ana Maria Silva- Florida International University

The Hispanic College Quiz series consists of four half-hour shows. The following HACU-member colleges and universities are featured: 

  • City Colleges of Chicago - Chicago, IL
  • East Los Angeles College - Monterey Park, CA
  • New Mexico State University - Las Cruces, NM
  • Our Lady of the Lake University - San Antonio, TX
  • Saint Peter's College - Jersey City, NJ
  • San Diego State University - San Diego, CA
  • University of Houston - Victoria - Victoria, TX
  • Whittier College - Whittier, CA
