HACU 15th Annual Capitol Forum April 18-20, 2010

Mark your calendar.  Please plan to attend.

HACU is urging the leadership of every member, associate member, partner and international member college and university to register to attend the HACU's 15th Annual National Capitol Forum on Hispanic Higher Education, April 18-20, 2010, at the Madison Hotel in Washington, DC.

Your attendance is critical to advocacy efforts on behalf of urgently needed federal funding for the colleges and universities serving the largest concentrations of Hispanic students. The 15th HACU Annual Capitol Forum is the best place to network with other members and supporters of HACU around federal legislative and policy issues.

HACU will call upon the second session of the 111th Congress for increased federal investments for the nation’s more than 262 Hispanic-Serving Institutions.  The Capitol Forum will include presentations from Members of Congress, the Administration and high level officials from key federal agencies. An agenda will be available soon. All Forum participants will also have the opportunity to visit with their Members of Congress to make the case for increased funding of HSIs.

Our advocacy work during 2010 will be especially challenging as the country continues to face concerns about federal budget deficits. As advocates for higher education success for the Hispanic community, our combined voices will be especially important to convince Congress that the education of the nation’s Hispanic community is vital to the future economic, social and the national security of our country.

Please forward this information to other appropriate staff and encourage their attendance as well. Please contact HACU’s government relations office at (202) 833-8361 with specific questions about the Capital Forum.
