Title V Part A (HSI) Program - June 14 deadline

The U.S. Department of Education today announced the Title V Part A HSI (Undergraduate) Program competition for 2010, the Developing Hispanic-Serving Institutions (HSI) Program.  The Notice inviting applications for new awards for Fiscal Year (FY) 2010, Catalog of Federal Domestic Assistance, has been posted in the Federal Register, CFDA Number 84.031S. The deadline for submission of applications is June 14, 2010. The deadline for Intergovernmental Review is August 11, 2010.

According to HACU contacts at the U.S. Department of Education, the Part B (Graduate) Program competition for 2010 will be announced in July.


Humanities Initiatives at Institutions with High Hispanic Enrollment  program -- Deadline: June 15, 2010. The maximum award amount is $100,000, and the maximum grant period is 3 years.


New program under new SAFRA Law for HSIs

This summer, The U.S. Department of Education will announce a new HSI STEM and Articulation Programs competition. The competition will be open to any institution that completed the basic eligibility application and was deemed an “eligible HSI.” Institutions with a current HSI grant award and basic eligibility for 2010 or a current CCRAA-HSI grantee will be eligible to apply. Five year awards will be made. The new program is authorized mandatory spending for ten years, beginning in FY 2010 for $100 million per year, as part the Reconciliation Act, under the Student Aid and Fiscal Responsibility Act (SAFRA), passed with the health care reform legislation March 21, 2010, and signed into law March 30, 2010.
