HACU joins “Unite Arizona”

The Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities joined Unite Arizona, a broad coalition of the nation’s largest Latino organizations united to fight Arizona’s anti-immigrant law SB 1070. The campaign will support efforts to block SB 1070 in court and coordinate a targeted boycott of Arizona until the state repeals the legislation. Read the news release here.

On April 23, HACU issued a statement denouncing the Arizona anti-immigration legislation signed into law by Governor Jan Brewer. A letter was also sent to President Obama to request immediate suspension of any potentially unjust enforcement of federal immigration laws in Arizona as a result of this new legislation. HACU is calling on the President and the U.S. Congress to act now on Comprehensive Immigration Reform to secure the protection of the rights of all Americans.
