Travel program announces student recipients

The “Giving Flight to Your Success/Dándole Alas a Tu Éxito™" ¡Lánzate! Travel Award Program, sponsored by Southwest Airlines and the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU), has announced the recipients of this year’s travel awards.

A total of 88 students were selected for the program. Each student receives one to four tickets, which the student or an immediate family member can use in the fall to travel to/from a college or university to any of the 65 cities Southwest Airlines serves.

The program began in April, under the theme "Dandole Alas a Tu Éxito/Giving Flight to Your Success." More than 1,500 students from across the nation submitted their entries with an essay about why they are pursuing a college degree and how the travel award would help them achieve their goals.

"HACU is proud to co-sponsor the Lanzate travel program with Southwest Airlines," said Antonio R. Flores, HACU President and CEO. "For the sixth year, the program has provided students studying away from home the reward of visiting with loved ones. For many students, these visits would not be possible without the support of the Lanzate travel program."

The ¡Lánzate Travel Award Program serves underprivileged Hispanic students, providing free travel for them and their families to maximize their potential and create opportunities for growth. To see the complete list of winners, click here.
