HACU announces new board officers and members

The Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU) has announced that Sandra V. Serrano,chancellor, of Kern Community College District in Bakersfield, California will serve as its new Governing Board chair, with Milton A. Gordon stepping down after serving two terms as chair. Gordon will continue serving on the board as the immediate past chair.

Jorge I. Vélez-Arocho, president of Pontificia Universidad Católica de Puerto Rico in Ponce, Puerto Rico, will serve as vice chair and Leslie Navarro, president of Morton College, Cicero, Illinois, will serve as treasurer. Tomás Morales, president of the College of Staten Island (CUNY), continues as secretary.

New to the board are Rita Cepeda, chancellor of Evergreen/San José Community College District in San Jose, California, Angel Herrera, regional vice president of ARAMARK and chair of the HACU Corporate and Philanthropic Council, and Manuel Isquierdo, Superintendent of Sunnyside Unified School District in Tucson, Arizona. Isquierdo is the first representative from a Hispanic-Serving School District to serve on the board.
