The U.S. Department of Education has announced FY2010 Title V recipients. This is the second year that the Title V Part B Promoting Postbaccalaureate Opportunities for Hispanic Americans Program has been funded. A total of 99 awards have been made to enhance educational opportunities and increase the educational attainment of Hispanic students at HSIs under Title V Part A or B.

Title V Part A Developing Hispanic-Serving Institutions Program.

New awards totaling $49.7 million are going to 77 HSIs under Part A. These grants help fund areas such as faculty development, curriculum development, academic tutoring and mentoring, and construction and renovation of instructional facilities.

These funds assist HSIs in increasing the number of students who pursue graduate degrees by providing outreach to students, including mentoring, scholarships or fellowships, and academic support services, by purchasing library materials and updating educational technology, renovating classrooms, supporting faculty exchanges and collaborations with other institutions to expand their degree offerings.
