Panel to highlight HACU history, legacy with international education during International Conference in Puerto Rico

A special panel during HACU’s 9th International Conference, Feb. 23-25 in San Juan, Puerto Rico, will focus on HACU's historical role within international higher education. The lunch session titled, "The Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities and International Education: History, Context and Future,” will take place on Feb. 25, from 1-2:30 p.m., as part of the conference.

Panelists will discuss a brief historical background of the International Education activities at HACU; The Role of Internationalization of Universities in the 21st Century; and The Future of International Education at HACU. The panelists will make their presentations as a tribute to HACU’s silver anniversary being celebrated this year.

Panelists will include: Dr. Salme Harju Steinberg, president emerita, Northeastern Illinois University and Manuel Fernos, president, Inter American University of Puerto Rico System. Dr. Jorge Vélez-Arocho, vice chair of HACU’s Governing Board and president of Pontifical Catholic University of Puerto Rico will serve as the panel’s convener.
