Notice: MSI Initiative - Substance Abuse, HIV, and Hepatitis Prevention Awards
The goal of the MSI Initiative is to directly increase access to comprehensive, integrated substance abuse (SA), HIV, and hepatitis prevention services and early detection of HIV on the campuses of HBCUs and HSIs. HBCU and HSI campuses will be subcontracted to implement Steps 1, 2, and 3 of the SAMHSA Strategic Prevention Framework (SPF) to determine the most effective evidence-based environmental prevention strategies and social marketing activities to provide peer-led education, student awareness activities and to distribute informational materials on and provide access to HIV Rapid Testing.

Funding Title: Minority-Serving Institutions (MSI) Initiative Subcontractor Awards

Funding Availability: A maximum of 21 Awards will be awarded during this fiscal year.

Funding Source: Center for Substance Abuse Prevention (CSAP)

Award Amount: $85,000

Eligible Applicants: Eligible applicants are federally designated Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) and Hispanic-Serving Institutions (HSIs). Only one application will be accepted from each eligible HBCU or HSI. HBCUs and HSIs previously funded under CSAP’s Minority Education Institution (MEI) Initiative are eligible to apply for these awards.

June 15, 2011 – June 14, 2012
Subcontractors may be funded for up to three years, based on availability of funds, subcontractor progress in meeting project goals and objectives, timely submission of required data, and compliance with all terms and conditions of award.
