National HSIs Week to be celebrated in September

The Hispanic Association of Colleges & Universities (HACU) is calling on all presidents and chancellors of Hispanic-Serving Institutions (HSIs) to make plans to celebrate National Hispanic-Serving Institutions Week this fall, September 18-24, 2011. Download a PDF flyer.

Once again, plans are underway for Congress to pass a resolution this year to recognize the contributions of HSIs in their communities. A request for a proclamation to observe HSI week nationally will also be sent to President Obama. HACU is working with Congressman Raúl Grijalva to bring the resolutions to a vote the week of September 18, 2011.

This year is extra special for members who belong to this national association representing existing and emerging HSIs and who together celebrate HACUs 25th Anniversary.

HACU will highlight National HSIs Week events and activities in an upcoming article. Submit your event information to news@hacu.net, or share your institution’s plans to celebrate National HSIs Week with HACU via social media.

For information or questions about National HSIs week, please contact: Laura Maristany, HACU Executive Director of Legislative Affairs, at 202-261-2090.
