HACU Seeking Best and Brightest for HNIP
The Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities is seeking the best and brightest of our community for our summer 2007 HACU National Internship Program. The paid internship program is designed to allow college students to gain professional development experience that will enable them to make more educated career choices. Our summer session is our most popular with more than 40 federal agencies and corporations providing over 400 internship opportunities in Washington, D.C., and in field locations throughout the U.S. We are currently accepting applications for our summer session until February 23, 2007. There is no fee to apply. Federal agencies and corporations will begin selecting students beginning mid-March.

HACU 7th International Conference -- May 3-5, 2007
HACU invites you to join us at our 7th International Conference to be held May 3-5, 2007 in historic Alcalá de Henares, Spain. The event is titled, "Hispanic Culture: Celebrating our Heritage," and will be hosted by the Universidad de Alcalá, one of the oldest and most prestigious institutions in Spain, honored with the designation of World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
The conference will feature a stellar collection of speakers, including educational leaders and top representatives from the government and private sector. There will be excellent opportunities to foster new partnerships and discuss unique international initiatives and programs. The program will be fully bilingual, with simultaneous interpretation provided during the entire event. We hope you to see you in Spain! HACU Scholarship Program
Students from HACU-member institutions can apply online for the scholarships that HACU will offer for the 2007-2008 Academic Year.
To receive a HACU scholarship, students must demonstrate financial need, meet the criteria specified for the program to which they are applying, and be attending a HACU-member institution at the time scholarship awards are made. Scholarships are non-renewable unless otherwise indicated. Renewable scholarships are contingent upon funding and the student’s continuing eligibility. Full-time students are those taking at least 12 credit hours per semester or its equivalent for graduate students
The application deadline, including all necessary supporting documentation, will be May 25, 2007. Scholarships will be awarded in September. For more scholarship information, specific criteria, and online application form, please visit: https://scholarships.hacu.net.
DHS Opportunity for Minority-Serving Institutions
The deadline is fast approaching - February 26, 2007 - for submitting an application for The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Summer Research Team Program for Minority-Serving Institutions.
This program brings research teams from Minority-Serving Institutions, consisting of a faculty member and up to two students, to a DHS Center of Excellence for research appointments of 10 to 12 weeks during the summer. OLLU's Groundbreaking Degree in Hispanic Marketing
With an eye on the burgeoning Hispanic population, HACU-member Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) in San Antonio will become one of the nation's first universities to offer a degree in Hispanic marketing, a field that is increasingly vital to advertisers as the Hispanic purchasing power soars. Joining with the American Marketing Association (AMA), OLLU will begin offering a Bachelor of Business Administration with a concentration in Hispanic marketing in fall 2007. The San Antonio AMA chapter’s SAVisión group, made up of experienced Hispanic marketing professionals, helped develop the program’s curriculum and will access leading experts to provide students with a real-world perspective of the industry.
