HACU 7th International Conference -- May 3-5, 2007

HACU invites you to join us at our 7th International Conference to be held May 3-5, 2007 in historic Alcalá de Henares, Spain.  The event is titled, "Hispanic Culture:  Celebrating our Heritage," and will be hosted by the Universidad de Alcalá, one of the oldest and most prestigious institutions in Spain, honored with the designation of World Heritage Site by UNESCO.

The conference will feature a stellar collection of speakers, like José Ignacio Goirigolzarri, the Chief Executive Officer of Banco Bilbao (pictured here) and José Jaime Rivera, president of the University of the Sacred Heart in Puerto Rico.  There will be excellent opportunities to foster new partnerships and discuss unique international initiatives and programs. The program will be fully bilingual, with simultaneous interpretation provided during the entire event.  We hope you to see you in Spain!  Click here for our online registration or downloadable registration forms.

DHHS-HACU Call for Applications

HACU invites faculty and staff members at HSIs to submit applications to participate in this summer's 2007 U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS)/HACU Professions Capacity Building Program.  The deadline for applications is April 20, 2007.  The program aims to increase the participation of HSIs and entry-level faculty in grant development efforts designed to improve the health status of Hispanic and other minority populations, including disease prevention and health promotion activities. To apply, please visit the online application portal at www.hacu.net under "Programs."  You may also contact Program Manager Arturo Cuellar at the HACU national headquarters in San Antonio at (210) 692-3805 or acuellar@hacu.net.

More Than $300,000 in HACU Scholarships Available

Students from HACU-member institutions can apply online for the scholarships that HACU will offer for the 2007-2008 Academic Year.  The application deadline is May 25, 2007. To receive a HACU scholarship, students must demonstrate financial need, meet the criteria specified for the program to which they are applying, and be attending a HACU-member institution at the time scholarship awards are made. Scholarships are non-renewable unless otherwise indicated. Renewable scholarships are contingent upon funding and the student’s continuing eligibility. More than $300,000 in scholarship monies are available for the 2007-2008 academic year.

Scholarships will be awarded in September. For more information, specific criteria, and online application form, please visit: https://scholarships.hacu.net.
