Capitol Forum focuses on the importance of Hispanic education
“The Role of Hispanic-Serving Institutions (HSIs) in Preparing the Nation’s Workforce” was the topic of discussion at a luncheon that kicked off the 16th Annual National Capitol Forum on Hispanic Higher Education on April 4 in Washington, D.C. More than 160 participants were among those who attended the Capitol Forum, convened by HACU. More>>

Capitol Forum panel sessions included a variety of topics of interest to HSIs. Among the speakers were Congressman Raúl Grijalva; Executive Director of the White House Initiative on Educational Excellence for Hispanic Americans, Juan Sepúlveda; Congressman Rubén Hinojosa and U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan. National partners release Roadmap for Latinos

$100,000 HSI Scholarship Competition
Sam’s Club is offering sophomores and juniors enrolled full time at a Hispanic-serving institution (HSI) the chance to win a share of $100,000 to pay for their education. To enter, each team of up to three students will develop a marketing plan where the theme is “Increasing Sam’s Club’s Market Penetration of the Latino Population.” The program deadline is May 14, 2011.
