Gala honors founder and pioneers of Hispanic higher education
More than 650 individuals joined the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU) at its Silver Anniversary Gala on October 31 for an evening of reflection on and celebration of the origins of the Association in San Antonio, Texas. More>>
New board members announced
HACU has announced the following individuals have joined the HACU Governing Board for 2011-12: Fernando León García, Rector, CETYS Universidad Baja California, Mexicali, Baja California, México (pictured first); J. Michael Ortiz, President, California State Polytechnic University, Pomona, CA (pictured second); and Fabiana Sofia Perera, Chair, HACU’s Alumni Association.

Corporate and Philanthropic Council adds members
The nominations for the following corporate representatives to join HACU's Corporate and Philanthropic Council were approved at a recent meeting: Rudy M. Beserra, Vice President - Latin Affairs, The Coca-Cola Company; Alma Guajardo-Crossley, Director - Diversity Initiatives, General Motors; and Jim Fjelstul, Senior Vice President of Campus Services, Sodexo. 
HACU and UNM partner on English Immersion Program
The HACU-UNM English Immersion Program will provide high quality, non-credit English training for professional administrators, instructors, and students of Latin America and Spain. More>> 
Scholarships presented during Gala
The finalists of the Hispanic College Quiz Hispanic Heritage online video competition were presented with scholarship awards from State Farm on October 31 during the Silver Anniversary Gala of the Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities.

Youth Leadership Development Forum kicks off HACU 25th events 
More than 900 students from San Antonio area high schools attended the YLDF, hosted on the campus of Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU) in San Antonio, Texas. The full-day program included activities and presentations under the theme “Leaders for the 21st Century.”
