Action Alert--July 11, 2006 Community-Based Job Training Grants, The deadline is August 29, 2006 to submit grant applications The Employment and Training Administration (ETA) of the U.S. Department of Labor will provide $125 million in grants to individual community and technical colleges, community college districts, state community college systems and career centers to support and engage in a combination of activities for the purpose of building the capacity of community colleges to train for careers in high growth industries in the local and/or regional economies. The award ceiling for grants has been set at $2,000,000 and the award floor at $500,000. The deadline is August 29, 2006 to submit the grant application whose total program funding consists of $125,000,000. Please relay this message to the appropriate individuals and departments. Community-Based Job Training Grants will be awarded through a competitive process to support workforce training for high-growth/high demand industries through the national system of community and technical colleges. The expected number of awards total 75.
