        2007 Membership Dues Information

1.         Member and Partner Institutions
Institutions of higher education in the U.S., Puerto Rico, Latin America, Portugal, and Spain may be eligible to join HACU. To be considered for membership as an institution, an institution must submit a completed institutional membership application to HACU. The application is available on-line at www.hacu.net under the Members/New Member Application link.  Upon membership approval, an invoice will be e-mailed to the President/CEO and HACU Contact listed in the application.

A.)        National Members

National members must be non-profit, accredited institutions of higher education located in the United States and Puerto Rico. National members fall into the following categories:

Hispanic-Serving Institutions (HSIs) - colleges, universities or systems/districts where total Hispanic enrollment constitutes a minimum of 25% of the total enrollment, including full-time and part-time students whether at the undergraduate or graduate level (including professional schools), or both (headcount, for-credit students).

Associate Member Institutions - colleges, universities or systems/districts where total Hispanic enrollment constitutes at least 10 percent of the total enrollment, or a minimum of 1,000 Hispanic students are enrolled, including full-time and part-time students whether at the undergraduate or graduate level (including professional schools), or both (headcount, for-credit students).

Partner Institutions - colleges, universities or systems/districts that do not meet the minimum Hispanic students enrollment requirements to be classified as HSIs or Associate members, but are committed to Hispanic student success.

 System/District Office Membership

System/district membership is for central administrative offices. Campuses within a member system/district are not considered HACU members unless the campus itself is a dues-paid member. System/district members are not eligible for certain member benefits, e.g., scholarships.

B.)        International Members

International members are institutions of higher education, outside the United States, authorized to operate in their country according to the rules and regulations required by their government.

2.          Hispanic Serving School Districts (HSSDs)

HSSDs are defined as any public or private K-12 school district whose total enrollment is at least 25% Hispanic. To be considered for HSSD membership, please complete an HSSD application available by contacting Jeanette Morales, Member & Affiliate Services Program Manager, at jmorales@hacu.net or (210) 576-3220. Upon membership approval, an invoice will be e-mailed to the Superintendent and the District HACU Contact listed on the application.

3.          Faculty and Staff Caucus Members

Caucus membership is for individual faculty and staff of HACU-member and partner institutions. The Caucus is an important asset to HACU’s mission to promote Hispanic success in higher education. Individuals interested in Hispanic issues in higher education, professional development, and research proposal development are encouraged to join. To be considered for Caucus membership, complete the Faculty and Staff Caucus membership application available on-line at www.hacu.net under the Members/New Member Application link.  Upon approval of the membership, an invoice will be e-mailed to the applicant.
