The HAA Dream Scholarship

The scholarship is in line with HACU’S stated mission of “improving access to and the quality of post-secondary educational opportunities for Hispanic students” and with the HACU Alumni Association’s intent of “advancing the mission and goals of HACU.” Specifically, the scholarship is consistent with HACU’s stated legislative priority of securing passage of the DREAM Act, a bipartisan bill that has been introduced in every Congress since 2001.

ELIGILIBILITY
The scholarship is open to students who:

  • Would have been eligible for permanent residency under the Dream Act of 2009 (S.729)
  • Have completed their first year of college and plan to continue for a second year
  • Must be attending a HACU-member institution

Fall 2013 Alumni Connection Program

The alumni connection program is back for its fourth internship session!

The objective of the Alumni Connection Program is to pair every current HACU interns with a HACU alumnus/a whom they can contact for support during the internship. This program ties in with the HACU Alumni Association's mission to serve as a network not only for alumni but also for current interns and to strengthen ties between existing program alumni and future program alumni.

Maritza was assigned to be Sergio's mentor during the spring 2013 internship session. They were able to meet up in Colorado, where Sergio was completing his internship, along with another HACU alumn, Jose, and a USDA employee.
