HACU Career Opportunities (3/02/10)

The Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU) is currently seeking professionals for the following positions: 

Alumni Relations Coordinator : Temporary position, 10 weeks from March 8 – May 14, 2010. Support the development and implementation of a plan to increase an active HACU Alumni Association (HAA) community. Serve as initial point of contact for alumni, responsible for administration and maintenance of alumni webpage, online community, materials for distribution, event management, surveys, coordinating volunteers, e-newsletter, and other communications. Bachelor’s degree in Marketing or related field with two years experience in volunteer management and an academic office environment preferred.  Some travel required. Spanish language proficiency highly desired. (Located in Washington, DC)   

Director of Research & Information: Under the direction of the Chief Operating Officer (COO), gathers and analyzes data and information in support of the Office of Policy Analysis and Information and other programs as requested. Maintains databases of faculty and potential grant writers. Coordinates information support for programs by compiling, data mining, data warehousing and updating information sources such as HSI data from the Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System (IPEDS) of the Department of Education and the College Board Annual Survey of Colleges.  BA/BS in education or related science field required, Master’s strongly preferred. One year experience in higher education, a K-16 educational setting, or related work required. Technical skills, high level of proficiency with word processing, spreadsheets, databases, content management systems. Effective time management skills, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work with limited supervision. Ability to interact and work in a group environment. Comprehensive reading skills, proficient writing, effective presentation. Spanish language proficiency strongly preferred.    (Located in San Antonio, TX)

Executive Director of Federal Relations and Outreach:  Assists the VP of Government Relations and the Executive Director of the HACU National Internship Program (HNIP) in coordination of matters relating to HACU/Federal agency cooperation and with collaboration efforts with other national organizations and associations.   Serves as lead for operations/work of the HACU/federal agency Leadership Groups; developing relationships with key federal agencies, primary contact with federal agency offices; and dissemination of information to HACU membership regarding HSI funding opportunities and programs. Assists VP of Government Relations in development and implementation of HACU/federal agency memorandum of understanding; publication of legislative policy; and establishing and promoting relationships with national education and Hispanic focused associations. Collaborates with Executive Director of HNIP in identifying prospective federal agency internship opportunities. Undergraduate degree required, Master’s degree strongly preferred. Significant experience and/or training at the federal/state level on issues impacting Hispanics in Higher Education. Federal Agency experience.  Spanish language proficiency highly desired. Good communication and writing skills, ability to develop and conduct training program and create expository materials. Must be able to travel. (Located in Washington, DC)

HNIP Assistant Director: Will assist with the day to day management of the HACU National Internship Program (HNIP) for DC area interns, including but not limited to, planning, directing & coordinating activities of the HACU summer, semester long, and National Internship Program. Serve as point of contact for interns, coordinate intern travel & housing arrangements, and assist with program maintenance including orientation, co-curricular activities, application processing, placement, recording & reporting requirements. Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field with one to two years experience working with college students in a professional position. Spanish language proficiency highly desired.  Must be able to travel. (Located in Washington, DC)
