HACU Health Sciences Advisory Council
The Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities (HACU) established and created the HACU Health Sciences Advisory Council (HSAC) in 2002 to advise HACU in the areas of health disparities and health sciences within the Hispanic higher education community.
As part of the DHHS-HACU Professions Capacity Building Program, the council contributes its expertise to HACU’s efforts to address health disparities and increase science education and research opportunities for those colleges and universities serving Hispanic higher education students, staff, and faculty. In addition, HSAC will assist in developing strategies to increase Hispanic health science education, training and research initiatives, enhance health sciences partnerships between the Federal government and HSIs and other HACU member institutions, and to enhance advocacy efforts in support of eliminating the under-representation of Hispanics in the health sciences and eliminating health disparities in the Hispanic community.
