HACU ALUMNI ASSOCIATION
SHOT AT GRADUATE SCHOOL SCHOLARSHIP
The HACU Alumni Association Shot at Graduate School Scholarship is open to HACU student program alumni who intend to pursue education beyond a bachelor’s degree and is designed to assist with the cost of applying to graduate school. The scholarship is in line with the HACU Alumni Association’s mission of supporting the alumni of HACU’s student programs, HACU’s mission to improve Hispanic students’ access to post-secondary educational opportunities, and HACU National Internship Program’s commitment to opening the doors of opportunity for Hispanic students.
The HACU Alumni Association Shot at Grad School Scholarship provides recipients with a $200 scholarship!
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA
- Applicants must have successfully participated in at least one of HACU’s student programs (i.e. attended the Annual Conference, received a HACU Scholarship, or completed a HACU Internship.)
- Applicants should be seeking admission to a graduate program and must register to take the GRE, GMAT, MCAT or LSAT before November 1, 2013. Note that disbursement of funds is conditional upon the student presenting proof of registration for one of these exams.
DEADLINES
- Application Deadline Date: March 25, 2013
- Announcement of Scholarship recipient(s): April 15, 2013 at HAA Capitol Forum Benefit Reception
REQUIRED DOCUMENTS
An application is considered “complete” only if it is accompanied by the following documents:
- Completed HACU Alumni Association Shot at Graduate School Scholarship Application (link below)
- Personal Statement: a written statement of approximately 300 words describing how your participation in a HACU student program inspired you to pursue an advanced degree.
- A copy of ONE of the following documents verifying application to at least one graduate program:
(1) Application fee receipt (2) Letter of acceptance (3) Letter from school indicating that your application has been submitted
SELECTION
- Applications will be reviewed by a selection committee composed of at least one HACU Alumni Association board member and one HACU alumni member who is not currently on the Board.
- A select number of applicants will be chosen based on the quality of their application and recipients will be announced at the HACU Capitol Forum Alumni Reception, which takes place the second week of April of each year (recipients do not need to be present).
- Scholarship awards will be disbursed to recipients following the HACU Capitol Forum Alumni Reception
