Established in 2003, the Boettcher Teachers Program is a dual licensure and master’s degree fellowship designed to prepare a highly-skilled workforce of professional educators who make a difference in the individual lives of low-income students and communities and the schools that serve them. Boettcher Teaching Fellows are specially trained and endorsed to work with culturally and linguistically diverse students, and earn a Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Denver, as well as a Colorado teaching license from the Colorado Department of Education.

British Marshall Scholarship

The Gilman International Scholarship Program offers awards of up to $8,000 for U.S. citizen undergraduates to study abroad. To be eligible applicants must be receiving federal Pell Grant funding and participating in a study abroad program of at least 4 weeks during the fall, spring or academic year. Summer programs are not eligible. This congressionally funded program is sponsored by the U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs and administered by the Institute of International Education. Application deadline: April for Fall semester/Academic Year and October for Spring semester study abroad programs.

Hispanic Education Endowment Fund (HEEF)
The Orange County Hispanic Education Endowment Fund (HEEF) of the Orange County Community Foundation provides three avenues of community support throughout the year. Student Scholarships; Corporate Partnerships and Recognition of K-12, community college and university Teachers and Educators. Scholarships are provided for Orange County Hispanic elementary and middle school students, graduating high school seniors, community college transfers, Law School admits, or participants in specialized HEEF programs. Eligible candidates must demonstrate financial need. HEEF also provides a limited number of renewal awards to previous scholarship recipients. The Hispanic Scholarship Fund (HSF) is the nation's leading organization supporting Hispanic higher education.  Founded in 1975 as a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization, HSF's vision is to strengthen the country by advancing college education among Hispanic Americans.  In support of its mission to double the rate of Hispanics earning college degrees, HSF provides the Latino community more college scholarships and educational outreach support than  any other organization in the country.  During the 2006-2007 acdemic year, HSF awarded nearly 4,200 scholarships exceeding $26.5 million.  In its 32-year history, HSF has awarded more than 82,000 scholarships worth more than $221 million to Latinos from all 50 states, Puerto Rico, Guam and the U.S. Virgin Islands attending nearly 2,000 colleges and universities.  Applications for scholarships are available online at http://www.hsf.net/.

The National Association of Hispanic Journalists (NAHJ) offers several scholarships through our Rubén Salazar Scholarship Fund program. These scholarships are designed to encourage and assist Latino students pursue careers in journalism. Hispanics remain woefully underrepresented in mainstream U.S. newsrooms. One of NAHJ’s goals is to help more qualified Hispanic students to move from the classroom to the newsroom. The National Defense Science and Engineering Graduate Fellowship Program (NDSEG)

This fellowship program is sponsored by the Army Research Office, Office of Naval Research, Air Force Office of Scientific Research and the DoD High Performance Computing Modernization Program This program is intended for U.S. citizens at or near the beginning of their graduate studies in science and/or engineering programs. The fellowships are for three year tenures. The stipends begin at $30,500 for first year fellows, $31,000 for second year fellows, and $31,500 for third year fellows. Full tuition and fees and a health insurance allowance are included as part of the program.

The National Science Foundation’s Graduate Research Fellowship Program

This fellowship program provides students with three years of financial support including a $30,000 annual stipend and $10,500 cost-of-education allowance. U.S. citizens, nationals, or permanent resident aliens at or near the beginning of research-based graduate studies in the Chemistry, Computer and Information Science and Engineering, Engineering, Geosciences, Life Sciences, Mathematical Sciences, Physics and Astronomy, Psychology, and Social Sciences fields are eligible to apply.

The Naval Research Laboratory (NRL) Postdoctoral Fellowship Program

This program is open to U.S. citizens and legal permanent residents and offers a competitive stipend as well as insurance, relocation, and travel allowances. This program offers one to three year postdoctoral fellowships designed to increase the involvement of scientists and engineers from academia and industry to scientific and technical areas of interest and relevance to the Navy. This program has a rolling admission.

The Naval Research Enterprise Intern Program (NREIP)

NREIP is a ten week summer research opportunity for undergraduate Juniors & Seniors, and Graduate students, under the guidance of a mentor, at a participating Navy Laboratory. The stipend amounts for the program are $5,500 for undergraduate students and $6,500 for graduate students. U.S. citizenship required; Permanent residents accepted at certain labs.

The Science and Engineering Apprenticeship Program (SEAP)

SEAP is an eight week summer research opportunity at participating ONR laboratories for high school students who have completed at least grade 9, and are at least 16 years of age (for most Laboratories), and a U.S. citizen. A graduating Senior is eligible to apply. The stipend for the summer program is $1,500 for new students; $1,550 for returning students.

Science, Mathematics and Research for Transformation (SMART) Education Program

This education program provides scholarships and fellowships to students including an annual salary, full tuition, and other normal educational expenses. The purpose is to promote the education, recruitment and retention of undergraduate and graduate students in science, mathematics and engineering studies. The SMART Education Program is open only to citizens of the United States, and students must be at least 18 years of age to be eligible. There is an employment obligation to DoD with this education program.

Southwest Airlines’ Travel Award Program
Through “Dándole Alas a Tu Éxito/Giving Flight To Your Success,” Southwest Airlines will provide round trip tickets to students with socioeconomic need who travel away from home to pursue a higher education.  Students must submit a transcript and certificate of enrollment from the university that they are attending.  More information regarding the online application, eligibility criteria and deadlines for the travel award program is now available on HACU’s Web site at http://www.hacu.net/hacu/lanzate_EN.asp.
