HACU and FEMA sign MOA

The Hispanic Association of Colleges & Universities (HACU) and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) have established a new partnership through a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) that represents a commitment to provide educational opportunities to the

nation’s Hispanic population to pursue careers in emergency management.  This is FEMA’s first partnership of this type with a higher education organization.

HACU President and CEO Antonio R. Flores and FEMA Administrator W. Craig Fugate signed the MOA during FEMA’s 2011 Latino Leadership Summit.

The HACU/FEMA MOA will focus on efforts to develop innovative ways to educate students and faculty regarding emergency management issues, including having FEMA subject matter experts serve as “visiting professors” in courses related to emergency management.
