Hispanic-Serving Institutions (HSIs) honored this week

This week Hispanic-Serving Institutions (HSIs) across the nation are celebrating National HSIs Week. HACU has been working with Congress to ensure that accomplishments and contributions made by HSIs to the nation’s higher education goals are recognized.

resolution was introduced to the U.S. Senate by Senators Robert Menendez and John Cornyn to recognize the contributions of HSIs to their communities. In the U.S. House of Representatives, Congressmen Raúl Grijalva and Rubén Hinojosa introduced H.Res. 400 to recognize the establishment of a National HSIs Week and commemorate the Hispanic Association of Colleges & Universities’ (HACU) 25th Anniversary.

President Barack Obama has released a Proclamation officially designating Sept. 18 – 24 as National HSIs Week.
