Muñoz appointed as new White House Director of the Domestic Policy Council

President Obama on Tuesday announced the appointment of Cecilia Muñoz as the new Director of the Domestic Policy Council. In this position, Muñoz will coordinate the policy-making process and supervise the execution of domestic policy in the White House, which includes education.

“We congratulate Cecilia Muñoz on her new role as one of the highest-ranking Hispanic women in the White House,” said Antonio R. Flores, President and CEO of the Hispanic Association of Colleges & Universities (HACU).  “As education issues move to the forefront, HACU is hopeful that Ms. Muñoz will help advance policies of great importance to higher education.  We look forward to working with her, the Administration and Congress on domestic policy goals that help improve educational opportunities.”

Muñoz holds a master’s degree and earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, a HACU-member institution.
