HACU welcomes the Dominican American National Roundtable’s National Youth Fellows

On July 24, 2012, HACU’s Washington, D.C. office hosted eight fellows from the Dominican American National Roundtable’s National Youth Fellowship Program, representing various majors and colleges from Florida, Massachusetts, New York, New Jersey, Rhode Island and Pennsylvania. The visit was an opportunity for the students to participate in various training sessions and seminars in legislative and congressional advocacy, civic education, student and educational advocacy, and community-building and service projects.

HACU presentations included the process of developing a legislative agenda, how to work with Congress in incorporating Hispanic needs and issues in legislation, the process of funding of Hispanic-Serving Institutions, Hispanic representation in the federal workforce, and how the HACU National Internship Program provides career education and preparation for opportunities in the federal government.
