HACU’s 2012 Annual Conference in Washington D.C. convenes this month
The Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities’
(HACU) 2012 Annual Conference is just over two weeks away, taking place in
Washington D.C. at the Marriot Wardman Park Hotel. The conference will feature 69
workshops and over 100 exhibitors from across the country, and is expected to
draw over 1,200 attendees.
Several conference events are free and open to the public:
the College and Career Fair on Oct. 21 from 2 - 5 p.m.; the Exhibit Hall on
Oct. 21 from 10 a.m. - 5 p.m. and Oct. 22 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.; a
pre-conference workshop by the U.S. Department of Education on Title IV on Oct.
20 from 12:30 – 3:30; and a post-conference workshop “2011 Statistics on
Ethnicity and Ancestry in the Hispanic Population" presented by Roberto R.
Ramirez, chief of the Ethnicity and Ancestry Statistics Branch, Population
Division, U.S. Census Bureau, on Oct. 23 from 9 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. followed by a
short coffee break, and second session on the bureau’s Human Resource office’s
work with HACU’s National Internship Program from 10:45 a.m. to 12 p.m.
The conference will also have HACU’s first Dean’s Forum on
Oct. 23 from 12:30 – 3:30 p.m., and the pre-conference 11th Annual Latino
Higher Education Leadership Institute, Oct. 20 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. (both
events require additional registration). The conference formally concludes with
a celebration of the HACU National Internship Program’s 20-year milestone at
the Emerald Gala, Oct. 22, from 6:30 p.m. – 11:30 p.m.
